Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Balasore, Pratap Sarangi was admitted to Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital in Balasore on Monday after being diagnosed with pneumonia.

As per reports, Sarangi was taken to the ICU in the hospital for advanced treatment following a chest infection which was later diagnosed as pneumonia.

Sources said, Sarangi has been suffering from cold and cough since last three days. His condition worsened on Monday following which he was admitted to the ICU in the hospital.

Speaking to the reporters, the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Dulal Sen Jagdev said, “He (Sarangi) had come to the hospital three days back complaining of cough and cold. However his condition deteriorated on Monday and after check up we found him infected with pneumonia.”

“His condition remains stable. A three-doctor team is monitoring his health condition. However, if need arises we will refer him to other hospital,” Jagdev added.

Pratap Chandra Sarangi, was a Minister of State in the Government of India for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. He is a Lok Sabha member and had won from Balasore Parliamentary seat. He is currently serving as a National Executive member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
