MP Baijayant Panda meets farmers, takes stock of crop loss situation in Kendrapara
BJP National Vice-President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda on Tuesday assured farmers that the Odisha government is taking necessary steps to provide compensation for extensive crop loss. The farmers expressed their gratitude as the leaders and government officers are now at ground zero to assess the crop damage due to unseasonal rain in the state.
This was not happening during the previous BJD government. MP Baijayant Panda today visited several farmlands along with the district Collector and administrative officials to take stock of the crop loss situation in Jajanga area, said a farmer.
Already a massive drive is underway to complete the assessment and reportedly extend compensation to the affected farmers. The farmers in Kendrapara on Tuesday narrated their ordeal due to crop loss following unseasonal rain to their MP Baijayant Panda.

Earlier, the Odisha government had granted two extra days to the farmers to complete their registration process for compensation claims. The deadline for registration has been extended until midnight on January 1.
“Both the Centre and the State are concerned about the farmers. Today, I visited the farmlands damaged due to unseasonal rains in various parts of Kendrapara and held discussions with the farmers. I also discussed with the District Collector and District Agriculture Officer how our affected farmers could get help as soon as possible. I request all the farmers to register their complaints related to damage on toll-free number 14447 by January 1,” tweeted MP Baijayant Panda.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Monday informed that adequate compensation will be provided to all affected farmers, including those who grow crops other than paddy.
