Capital city Bhubaneswar is hosting the three-day-long DG-IGP Conference on internal security and public safety. The conference will be held at the conference hall of the Lok Seva Bhawan.
For this conference, while the entire Bhubaneswar has been under the cover of a thick security blanket, the areas near the Lok Seva Bhawan have been sealed. The police department seems to be leaving no stone unturned to ensure the conference ends without any law and order situation.
On the other hand, this conference has caused difficulties for the MLAs who were staying in the state guest house as they haven’t been either allotted or shifted to their govt quarters as yet.
Since the area where the state guest house is situated has been sealed for the three-day-long DG-IGP Conference, the MLAs staying there have been shifted to star hotels, resulting in inconvenience to them.
“We have been shifted from the state guest house to a star hotel for the DG conference. It is not good. The venue of the conference should have been a different place. We wanted to be shifted to somewhere in the Unit IV area so that our people could meet us easily. Now, they will face problems in meeting us,” regretted Congress’s legislature party leader and Pottangi MLA Rama Chandra Kadam.
Expressing his displeasure, BJD MLA Sarada Jena said, “The government is yet to allot quarters to us. In such a situation, we have made the state guest house as our address. Now, for the DGP conference, we have been shifted to a star hotel, away from the city. People coming to meet us are facing a lot of difficulties.”
BJP MLA Manoranjan Dyan Samantaray is also upset about being relocated from the state guest house to a star hotel.
“Only 10 days left for our government to complete six months in power. It is a good thing that after our party came to power, such national-level conferences were being organized in Odisha. For the three-day-long DG-IGP Conference, we have been shifted from the state guest house to a star hotel,” said BJP MLA Manoranjan Dyan Samantaray.
“We are facing difficulties for not getting our quarters. Even if quarters have been allotted to us, we are unable to move in as they have not been vacated by the previous occupants. We were staying in the state guest house. Now we are staying in a star hotel,” he said.
“It is natural that people from the district of a leader come to meet. As we are presently staying in a hotel, people of our districts are facing problems to meet us. At the same time, we are having problems to accommodate our workers. We are trying to manage things even though we are spending some extra money. We hope the government will consider our problems seriously and soon solve them,” Dyan Samantaray added.
