MLA Bijay Shankar-Somalika discord: Somalika appears before marriage registrar's office 

Somalika Dash, the rumoured girlfriend of BJD's Tirtol MLA, Bijay Shankar Das, appeared before the marriage registrar's office in Cuttack on Tuesday. The office had on November 3 summoned Somalika to appear before the court along with any witness and documents to prove her allegations against the MLA.

The MLA and a woman whom he wants to marry were also summoned by the marriage registrar's office. However, the two did not depose on Tuesday. 

It may be noted here that the Tirtol MLA had applied for marriage with Pratyusha Nanda at the sub-registrar office on September 21. Learning about the matter, Somalika Dash moved an objection at the same office On October 7, opposing his marriage with Pratyusha. Somalika earlier alleged that Pratyusha was a married woman. The marriage registrar's office has asked Somalika to prove her allegations with documentary evidence.

On Tuesday, the complainant told the office that she did not have any documents with her and sought 15 days' time, which was granted by the court.  

Speaking to the media, Somalika Das said, “I appeared before the court and put forth my arguments. But the MLA and his would-be-wife did not appear.” She also added that she would submit the required documents soon.  

Somalika had earlier brought a series of allegations against the MLA, including rape after the legislator did not turn up for marriage with her on the wedding day.
