The body of the three-year-old boy, who went missing under mysterious circumstances at Raipur village under Soro police limits in Balasore district on Monday, was found in a pond near his house on Tuesday. 

The deceased child has been identified as Subham, son of Mohan Sahu of Raipur village. 

According to sources, Subham was last seen playing on a village road in front of their house on January 1. Thereafter, he disappeared mysteriously. His parents and villagers had launched a frantic search at every possible place including the village pond, bus stand, and railway station, but could not find him anywhere.

On being informed, police, fire personnel, and a dog squad searched for him but he remained untraced. 

Yesterday, Balasore Sadar SDPO, Sashank Sekhar Behura said that the sniffer dog had taken them to a pond and the nearby railway station. But the search operation had to be stopped after the sun set owing to darkness. 

The search resumed on Tuesday morning. Later in the day, the fire personnel recovered the body from the pond near the house of the deceased. 

The police are yet to ascertain the reason behind his death.
