Miscreants change direction of CCTV camera, loot four shops in Ganjam

Miscreants looted four shops at a business complex near Khemundi college, Digapahandi. They diverted CCTV cameras to steal money, laptops, and goods. Police investigate.

Miscreants allegedly looted as many as four shops at a business complex in front of Khemundi college near Digapahandi area of Ganjam district on Thursday night.

As per reports, the miscreants managed to loot the shops by changing the direction of the CCTV camera installed in those shops. They have looted money, laptops and other goods from those shops.

The miscreants managed to loot the shops by cutting the locks and grill of the shops, alleged the owners and lodged FIRs at Digapahandi police station after finding the theft when they opened their shops this morning.

Digapahandi police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

Police reportedly checked the footages captured by other CCTV cameras installed in the nearby areas to find clues about the theft cases. It is suspected that many miscreants were involved in the loot case.

Notably, many theft cases have occurred in Digapahandi area in the last one month. However, police have failed to make much headway into the investigations. They have not yet arrested any person in connection with the theft cases.

Notably, four servitors among six persons were arrested in connection with the theft of ornaments and cash from the revered Tara Tarini temple in Ganjam district some days back.

Silver ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh were stolen from the temple, located on a hilltop in Purushottampur, on November 4. Among the items stolen were the crowns of the deities, a ceremonial umbrella and masks of the deities.
