Vigilance Raid At Multiple Places In Odisha

The Vigilance sleuths on Monday carried out simultaneous searches on the properties linked to Basanta Kumar Dash, Deputy Director of Fisheries (Brackish Water), Directorate of Fisheries, Cuttack. The raids were conducted on the charges of bungling government funds to the tune of Rs 1.05 crore.

It is alleged that Basant Dash transferred the money from the government account to his personal account during the financial year 2024-25.

“During enquiry, it is revealed that Basanta Kumar Dash, being the Drawing & Dusbursing Officer (DDO), transferred a sum of Rs1,05,00,000 from government account to his personal account being maintained at SBI, Puri, and withdrew and misappropriated the same,” the Vigilance said in a release.

The Vigilance officials informed that simultaneous house searches were conducted to unearth documents relating to the said misappropriation of government money and investments made / assets acquired out of the misappropriated amount.

Till the last report came in, the raids were underway by five teams led by 5 DSPs, 4 Inspectors, 9 ASIs and other staff on the properties linked to Dash in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri and Bhadrak.
