The factory that caught fire in Ganjam
A massive fire erupted at an organic goods factory in the Kodala area of Odisha’s Ganjam district, destroying materials worth over Rs 1 crore early Wednesday morning.
According to sources, a blaze swept across the Tej Agro Factory owned by one Jagannath Sahu, located on the main road of Kodala near Khallikote. The fire completely gutted the facility and raw materials worth over Rs 1 crore were reduced to ashes.
On being informed about the incident, Fire Services personnel from Kodala rushed to the spot and managed to control the fire after two hours.
The incident occurred between 4 and 5 am and is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit. Raw materials for soft drinks, cakes, bread, and some machinery parts were also destroyed in the fire, added sources.
Till the last reports, damage assessment was being conducted and a probe was on to ascertain the exact cause of the fire. However, no comments from concerned authorities or factory owners could be obtained.
In a related incident, vast stocks of hay caught fire, also in Ganjam district, this morning. Reports of this incident surfaced from Dhunkapada village under Polasara tehsil.
Reports mentioned that a massive pile of haystacks belonging to two local farmers was allegedly lit on fire by some miscreants. The blaze emerging from it persisted for a long duration before firefighters could bring it under control.
