Massive crackdown on gambling den in Nuapada; Rs 29 lakh seized, 80 arrested
In an extensive raid on Saturday night, Nuapada police dismantled a large gambling den operating inside an isolated building in the Janka area of Nuapada district. At least 80 people involved were arrested while authorities confiscated Rs 29 lakh, and 74 mobile phones from the spot.
According to the police, the gambling den had been operating in the area for a long time. The gambling den attracted a huge number of players, including local businessmen, who arrived with cash to play the card game.
The DGP received a tip-off about the illegal gambling den operating in the area. The information was verified and a raid was subsequently conducted. The raid was conducted following orders of the Director General of Police (DGP) after reports of persistent gambling activities in the region.

Police seized additional gambling paraphernalia during their operation. The police have also successfully encircled and subdued the operators at the site, bringing an abrupt halt to the illegal activities. The raid team has also seized total cash of Rs 29 lakh along with cards and a box containing additional cards.
A case has been registered in this connection and further investigation is being conducted to ascertain further dimensions of the gambling network.
