A broad daylight stabbing of a married woman in the Millennium City of Cuttack on Sunday has raised a question mark on the law and order situation.

The stabbing incident occurred inside a beauty parlour located in Dolamundai area in Cuttack in which a married woman sustained severe injuries. She is now undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital.

As per sources, a man wearing a mask barged into the beauty parlour and attacked the woman with a knife. The victim has been identified Suchitra Khatua, a native of Telenga Bazar area.

The victim's brother, Purna Chandra Das told OTV that she had been working with the parlour for a long time.

"I was at home when she called me up from the beauty parlour and told me that someone stabbed her in the stomach. I reached the parlour immediately and rushed her to the hospital. Now she is under treatment," said Das.

"The attacker had a mask on his face. As per my knowledge, my sister did not have any past enmity with anyone. She has been working at the parlour for the past 6-7 years. She has a daughter," he added.

Meanwhile, Purighat police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter. However, the reason behind the stabbing is still unclear. No arrest has been made in this regard so far as the accused is absconding.
