Maoist camp busted on Odisha-Chhattisgarh border; hand grenade and other articles seized

It is suspected that around 20 to 25 Maoists were present in the camp and all of them managed to escape. No exchange of fire took place, senior officials said.

Maoist camp busted

A camp of CPI (Maoist) has been busted at Jholapada area near Odisha-Chhattsigarh border, Nuapada SP GR Raghavendra said on Saturday. Several articles including a hand-grenade and medicines have been recovered from the Maoist hideout.

“One June 27, we had got information regarding the movement of Maoists in Odisha-Chhattisgarh border area. Subsequently, we busted the camp at Jholapada area and seized several items,” said Raghavendra.

It is suspected that the Maoist camp was set up for training and it was busted during a joint combing operation by SOG, DVF and CRPF personnel.
