In a shocking incident, a man killed a five-year-old boy by bludgeoning his head with a heavy rock at Saraguli hill in Mendara village under Nabarangpur’s Dabugaon block.

The deceased has been identified as the son of a local priest Sunadhara Pujari.

As per reports, Pujari was at the Shiva Temple on the Saraguli hill doing puja while his son was sitting on the verandah. During this, Jalandhara Santa from the same village came to the temple and allegedly killed Pujari’s son with a rock.

Santa did not stop even after Pujari tried to refrain him from killing his son. The accused even allegedly attacked Pujari when he tried to stop him.

Santa was so angry at the child, that he not only killed him, but cut down his left leg, right hand and decamped with it.

Sunadhara rushed to Dabugaon police station to file a complaint following which the police recovered the body and detained the accused.

The actual reason behind the murder is still unclear.
