Man on run after hacking wife into pieces in Odisha’s Balasore

In a gruesome incident, a man allegedly hacked his wife into pieces over some family feud at Palasia village under Basta police station on Saturday night.

The accused has been identified as Pradeep Das.

After committing the heinous murder, Pradeep allegedly stuffed the body parts in a sack and tried to dispose it near the railway tracks with the help of his father. However, the deceased’s family rushed to the spot after getting information from some sources.

Seeing his in-laws, Pradeep and his father fled the spot. After getting the information, Basta police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

Police have detained the mother and the younger brother of the accused and they are being interrogated.

As per reports, Pradeep married Mama some 10 years back. However, they used to quarrel over trivial issues.

On the fateful day, the couple has an intense argument over some issues.  Irate over this, Pradeep hacked Mama into pieces with a sharp-edged weapon.

 “Pradeep often thrashed Mama over dowry. Unable to bear the torture, she often came to her father’s house. But this time, she couldn’t return again as her husband and in-laws murdered her,” said a relative of the deceased.

Meanwhile, based on the complaint of the deceased’s family members, Basta police have registered a case.

“We have seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway,” said Basta SDPO Jalandhar Jali.
