Man ‘kills’ his two minor sons to marry again in Odisha’s Nayagarh

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

Police recovered bodies of two minor brothers from a house in Nayagarh, Odisha. Their father is suspected of killing them to remarry, but family claims it was suicide. Investigation underway.

Fategarh police station

Police on Monday recovered bodies of two minor brothers from inside a house at Dhanchangada village under Fatehgarh police station limits in Odisha’s Nayagarh district.

One of the deceased is stated to be around 14 years old while the other is approximately 11 years old.

Murder or Suicide?

A case of suspected murder has emerged after locals alleged that the father of the deceased minors killed the duo as he wanted to tie the knot again following the death of his first wife.

However, the family members claimed that the minor boys killed themselves after they came to know about their father’s second marriage plans.

Background Information of the Case:

According to reports, the ‘accused’ father Prakash Mohanty’s wife passed away three years ago, leaving their two sons in his custody. On March 9, a proposal for his second marriage was received, which reportedly led to the two sons reeling in distress.

The grandfather of the two deceased kids confirmed this detail and stated that they allegedly took their own lives after being unable to bear the news.
