Man dies after falling in electric trap laid for wild boars in Odisha village
A man lost his life after coming in contact with a live electric wire laid to trap wild boars in Odisha’s Baunsapal village under Kamakhyanagar police limits of Dhenkanal district. The deceased has been identified as Santosh Padhan of Kankili Mundasahi.
As per reports, Santosh along with his family had been to his in-law’s house at Gundichanali village. After staying with his in-laws, he along with his family was returning home when Santosh came in contact with the trap and was electrocuted, leading to his death on the spot.
Sources said, a few miscreants had spread the live electric wire illegally to hunt wild boars that entered the paddy fields in search of food. Santosh’s death has triggered outrage in the area as locals alleged the miscreants of laying electric wires despite the deaths of several people and animals.
Earlier, a few domestic animals have also lost their lives after coming in contact with the live wires. However, no steps have been taken against the accused hunters, it was alleged.
