In a major breakthrough, Korei police arrested a four-member lootera gang and a woman in Jajpur on Saturday. More than 150 grams of gold ornaments, worth over Rs 17 lakh, have been seized from their possession.

According to reports, theft complaints had been recently filed by two individuals in the Kanheipur and Santara areas in the district. During the investigation, police tracked down and arrested four looters along with a woman who had purchased the stolen gold.

The arrested accused have been identified as Rabindra Patra, Krishna Das, Shubham Ojha from Laxmi Nagar area, Mantu Munda from Jogi Sahi area, and Azmira Bibi from Maharam Sahi, who was involved in buying the stolen ornaments.

"We have been successful in nabbing the looteras. As many as 31 gold ornaments weighing more than 150 gram have been seized from their possession. The gold ornaments will have a market worth around Rs 17-18 lakh," said Jajpur Road SDPO Laxmidhar Swain.
