Already in controversy over helicopter expenses, VK Pandian landed in fresh trouble after a lawyer levelled serious allegations against the former bureaucrat-turned-politician of the BJD.

Advocate Sudhir Charan Mohanty lodged an FIR against Pandian at Capital Police station in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday alleging misappropriation of funds, converting black money into white and showing undue favours in return for kickbacks from mining owners & oil companies.

In his written complaint, advocate Sudhir Mohanty said, “VK Pandian was touring different parts of the state and travelling in helicopters and food was served to thousands of people in such meetings. Not only helipads, huge money was spent on such tours and the government has no information about the expenses. The contractors and mafias from outside Odisha, who have looted the state, have financed such programmes of VK Pandian. The state government has not given permission for chartered flights and helicopters and less amount has been spent from state exchequer. Hence, for all the expenses the mafias have been given money for this."

According to Mohanty, VK Pandian has travelled in chartered flights, 5 to 10 times in helicopters and expenses were borne by the state exchequer. Apart from this, there is no information regarding other tours in helicopters and charted flights.

“The persons, Tamil contractors and mafias who have benefited from VK Pandian had spent money to loot Odisha. Hence, we lodged a complaint against VK Pandian and demanded the registration of the case and proper investigation. We will move the High Court if no action is taken on our complaint,” Mohanty added.

It is alleged that how VK Pandian made such whirlwind tours to different districts in helicopters without the sanction of a single penny from the state exchequer? Similarly, how were mega meetings for VK Pandian organised without budgetary provisions worth crores?
The advocate further alleged that when there was no sanction of funds, who was bearing the expenses? It is alleged that it was made by mining owners, land mafia and non-Odia contractors and black money from other sources, the complaint letter read.

“I am requesting for an inquiry into the source from which the fund has been arranged, the amount mobilised and spent, identification of the agency and persons who funded and their purpose; and take legal action against VK Pandian, former CM Naveen Patnaik and all Collectors who were coordinating the programme without the sanction of single rupee from the government,” Mohanty wrote in his complaint.

No comments were received from VK Pandian or BJD leaders on the allegations.
