Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik
Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik on Monday alleged that the law and order situation seems to have broken down in Odisha. Patnaik made such remarks while expressing concerns over the incident in which a government officer was allegedly assaulted by Odisha Governor’s son.
Patnaik further stated that his party was disappointed and surprised to find that the present government has taken "no action on the Governor’s son who meted out violence to a government officer."
Earlier, the BJD and Congress MLAs had staged a walkout during Odisha Governor’s address on the first day of the Assembly session which started on Monday.
“We were deeply shocked by this. Law and order seems to have broken down in our state,” said Patnaik while talking to media after the Assembly session.

Patnaik further said, “When I was in the government, immediate action was taken against ministers, MLAs, MPs and senior government servants when they broke the law. The Odisha government must act according to the law.”
Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati said, “We had urged Odisha CM to take action against the Governor’s son. We also announced that we would not allow the governor to speak in the House; hence, we staged a protest today. There is a need to protect Odia Asmita and the agitation will continue till the Governor’s son is arrested.”
No comments could be obtained from the BJP over the allegations levelled by the BJD and the Congress MLAs.
