In a shocking incident, a Class-10 girl student reportedly took her own life out of shame following alleged repeated sexual exploitations by her father at Konark under Puri district.
As per reports, the mother of the minor girl found her hanging at their home on Saturday night following which she brought the girl to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Gop where the doctors pronounced her dead.
The doctors then informed Gop police station which later transferred the case to Konark Police Station.
Sources said the father of the girl has been sexually exploiting her for some days. Her mother had even warned her father against it but he never ceased to rape her own daughter and continued with his exploits. The girl reportedly lost her mental balance and finally hanged herself out of shame.
the family is yet to make any formal complaints against the father, the mother of the deceased has demanded exemplary punishment for the accused.
Speaking about the case, Konark IIC Purnachandra Sethi said, “We have registered a UD case after the IIC of Gop police station forwarded the matter to us. Following the inquest, the body has been sent to Puri for post-mortem.”
“Nobody has made any written or oral complaints with us. We are, however, conducting an inquiry in this case. We will take appropriate action following the investigation. Her father was not present at home during our spot visit. We have heard he has not been seen since the death of her daughter,” Sethi said.
