Father of deceased Nepali's girl
Expressing disappointment over the death of the Nepal girl student at a hostel of the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in Bhubaneswar, the father of the deceased on Tuesday slammed the educational institution and demanded justice.
Sunil Lamsal, father of the deceased Nepali girl student, said, “We just came to know that an investigation is being done. The post-mortem report will come soon. We have the information that she was harassed and emotionally blackmailed due to which she committed suicide. Yesterday, we had a conversation with the University officials. They did not say anything, but the police and college administration are cooperating with us.”
“We had sent our daughter for higher education. However, the incident happened. We have full faith and confidence on the government and police administration here. We are hopeful that they will give us justice,” said the deceased’s father.
“Though our daughter is no more, other national and international students are continuing their study at the university. No such incidents should be ever heard in the future,” he further said.

“We came to know from the media about some unsavoury incidents (with the Nepali students) which is not good and they (KIIT University) have not done the right thing. They urge students from Nepal to come and study in their university. However, this kind of misbehaviour with the students is not right,” he added.
He further said, “Her brother is also studying here, and he informed us about the incident the day before yesterday. One person has been arrested, and I think he is the reason behind all of this. Her phone, laptop and diary have been given to the forensic department. Police administration and the government are helping us. I heard that the students are being asked to leave, this is not right. We demand justice and nothing else."
Notably, the girl student from Nepal was found dead on Sunday in the university hostel after being allegedly harassed by a fellow student. The incident sparked tension at the KIIT University, with the educational institution allegedly asking all international students from Nepal to vacate the campus on Monday.
KIIT also allegedly issued a notice by saying that the university is closed sine die for all the international students from Nepal.
KIIT University is yet to respond to the allegations.
