Odisha CM Mohan Majhi
Odisha is all set to become the leading force in India’s steel industry, said CM Mohan Majhi while speaking at the recently concluded 'Steel India 2025' conference. The conference was co-hosted by the Ministry of Steel and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).
The event was attended by more than 200 delegates from steel sector industries in Mumbai. During the roundtable, industry captains from leading firms such as Tata Steel, AMNS, JSW, JSL, and SAIL, among others, shared their valuable inputs and growth plans for Odisha.

During the State Roundtable, which focused on expanding steel production and raw material supply, the Chief Minister presented Odisha’s strategic strengths in the steel and metals sector to a packed audience of industry leaders. In his keynote address, he reaffirmed Odisha’s position as the Steel Capital of India and highlighted the State’s role in enabling the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
Steel is the mother industry of Odisha, and the state is the largest producer of iron ore in India, playing a pivotal role in the success of the steel sector, accounting for more than 55% of the nation’s iron ore production.
A high-level task force comprising top government officials has been constituted to ensure the smooth commissioning and operation of industries within the state. Be it securing raw materials, encumbrance-free land to ensuring connectivity through roadways and railways and providing utilities like electricity and water, the Odisha government is committed to meeting the specific needs of every industry operating in this vital sector.
Odisha CM Mohan Majhi informed that the state government is setting its sights on developing a comprehensive metal-based manufacturing value chain, extending from raw materials to high-end engineering products.
He announced that Odisha’s Vision 2036 for Industrial Development outlines a bold roadmap that focuses on strengthening both upstream and downstream linkages, promoting engineering goods, mining machinery, transport systems, and components for defense and aerospace.
