In a letter to Nabarangpur SP, the junior teachers alleged that they are being denied joining in the school demanding district-specific engagement.

“Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha has presented the engagement order to the newly recruited Jr Teacher on dtd 05.10.2024 at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. Around 738 nos of selected candidates have been appointed in Nabarangpur district and they are directed to report before the concerned school point for joining from 07.10.2024 to 21.10.2024,” the letter read.

Meanwhile, the members of the Milita Kriyanustan Committee in Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and other districts continued their protest, advocating for district-based jobs amid allegations of job grabbing by other district individuals.

As per reports, out of the total 2848 teachers’ positions in Koraput, only 250 students from the district have availed the appointment while the rest candidates are from other districts. Similarly, out of 860 posts in Nabarangpur, only a handful of candidates are from the district while the rest are from other districts.

This has spread outrage among local organisations who alleged job grabbing by non-Koraput people and advocated for the rights of the youths of the undivided Koraput district. While hundreds of youths from tribal-dominated districts are in need of jobs, candidates from other districts often take away their jobs, the protesters alleged.
