Close on the heels of cabinet minister Naba Das’ murder by ASI Gopal Das, another police official has created trouble for the department in the State.

A constable has been transferred and a departmental inquiry has been ordered against him for allegedly giving controversial statements in an inebriated state against former Brajarajnagar MLA Anup Sai, who was convicted in a double murder case and is out on bail now.

Constable Saroj Das, who is working at Kolabira police station in Jharsuguda district, has been transferred to the reserve office of the district police headquarters following his remark against Sai.

However, Jharsuguda police has not yet revealed the exact statement of Saroj against the former legislator.

Jharsuguda police has also started a drive to withdraw arms from all the drunken police officials and transfer them to the district police headquarters.

Saroj is a relative of the victim Kalpana. Saroj had helped Chhattisgarh police in identifying the body of Kalpana.

Sai is the accused of the murder case and he is currently in bail after serving imprisonment.

As per reports, Saroj hurled abuses and gave some controversial remarks against Sai in a drunken state. Following the incident, the department, perturbed by Gopal Das incident, didn’t want to take any risk as Saroj has got training in arms. Subsequently, he was transferred to the district headquarters.

Notably, after quizzing around 700 people, Chhattisgarh police had got the lead about the murder of Kalpana Das and her daughter Bubly from Saroj.
