The selection procedure for Indian Army jobs has been changed from this year. To get the coveted job, aspirants have to go through three selection stages.
Of the three procedures, the first one is an online written test. The second one is rally or physical test and the last one is the medical test. Those who will come through these three tests will get the opportunity to join the Indian Army.
At a press conference held today at the Army Recruitment Office in Cuttack, Director of Recruitment, Indian Army, Colonel Harmindar informed about the changes introduced in the appointment process.
“The selection will be done in three stages. The first stage is an online exam which is computer-based. Stage two is the rally. This stage entails a physical fitness test (PFT) and a physical measurement test (PMT). While under PFT, there are run, 9 feet ditch, and pull-ups, under PMT, the measurement of the candidates’ height, weight, and chest are checked,” said the Colonel.
“After successful completion of these two stages, the third and final stage is the medical test of the candidates. After the medical test, they will be selected for the Army on the basis of their merit,” he added.
He further informed that the online written exam has already started from April 17 and will continue till 26. As many as 365 centers have been set up across the nation; eight such centers are in Odisha. Of the eight centers, while Bhubaneswar and Berhampur have two centers each, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Rourkela, and Sambalpur have one center each.
With this, the centers would no longer be crowded and candidates can attend the tests at the centers nearer to their native places, he said, adding that the Agniveers have to undergo similar selection stages.
