Illegal firecracker godowns raided in Rourkela, firecrackers worth over Rs 15 lakh seized 

Rourkela police seized over 200 varieties of firecrackers worth over Rs 15 lakh following raids on two illegal firecracker godowns at a daily market near Plant Site police station and arrested two persons in connection with the case.

The arrested persons have been identified as Vikash Agarwal and Ajay Kumar Gupta. 

Acting on a tip-off, the Plant Site police raided the illegal godowns and seized huge amounts of firecrackers stocked illegally.

“After getting information about the illegal hoarding of firecrackers at two godowns near the Daily Market, we formed two teams. Acting on the directive of the Superintendent of Police, we raided the godowns. Two persons have been arrested as they cannot produce valid licences,” informed Nirmal Mohapatra, Deputy Superintendent of Police.

“The firecrackers have been seized and two separate cases have been registered at the Plant Site police station. Further investigation into the matter is on and the seized firecrackers will be disposed of by the bomb disposal squad,” Mohapatra added.
