An Indian Air Force (IAF) officer, who is accused of raping a minor girl, surrendered before the JMFC court in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
The accused officer has been identified as Group Captain Korimili Venkat Srinivas.

On June 28, a case was registered against the officer accusing him of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Bhubaneswar’s Bomikhal area under Laxmisagar Police station.

As per the allegation, taking advantage of the girl being alone in her house, Srinivas entered her house and committed the heinous crime.

Acting on the complaint lodged by the survivor’s family members, the police registered a case and launched a probe. To nab the accused officer, police teams had been to other states twice but each time, the accused managed to give the cops a slip.

Meanwhile, he had also approached the High Court seeking an anticipatory bail. However, the bail plea was rejected. As a result, he surrendered himself before the Bhubaneswar JMFC court.
