Huge kickbacks alleged in drinking water projects during BJD tenure; Minister assures probe

Seventeen companies from outside Odisha were awarded Rs 35,000 crore worth of contracts under the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Departments during the BJD's tenure. Allegations of corruption and kickbacks in the tender process have surfaced. The BJP government plans to investigate these claims. Residents report incomplete water projects and poor service despite significant payments to contractors.

Huge kickbacks alleged in drinking water projects during BJD tenure in Odisha

As many as 17 companies from outside Odisha were reportedly given contracts for projects to the tune of Rs 35,000 crore under the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Departments of the Odisha government during the tenure of the BJD. 

It is evident from the fact that non-Odia contractors were ruling the roost during the period.
