As Bhubaneswar is gearing up for the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, which is to be held from January 8-10, the Capital City is going to witness the launching of facilities to enhance the tourist experience.

As a part of the preparations for the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, an annual event on January 9, recognising the contributions of the Indian diaspora around the world, the Hop-On Hop-Off bus service is going to be launched in Bhubaneswar. Initially, four buses arrived in Bhubaneswar to allow visitors to explore the various attractions across the state's capital with ease.

The service provides a daily pass that permits passengers to board or alight at any designated bus stop, offering flexibility and convenience. This move aims to boost tourism, providing a streamlined way for visitors to experience notable landmarks and cultural sites in Bhubaneswar.

By introducing these buses during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas event in Bhubaneswar, the aim is to cater to both international guests and domestic tourists, potentially increasing the city's appeal as a tourist destination.

The introduction of this service marks a significant step forward in modernising the city's public transport system, as well as promoting its rich heritage and culture to a broader audience.

Worth mentioning, these ochre-coloured buses have imprints highlighting Odisha’s rich heritage with pictures of Puri Srimandir and Dhauli’s peace pagoda.

Notably, the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) introduced the same bus service on August 4, 2008, with a fleet of 11 air-conditioned buses.
