The Commissionerate Police on Saturday arrested two women drug peddlers from Khandagiri area of Bhubaneswar.

The accused have been identified as Prajna Priya Swain (23) from Konark in Puri and Karishma Rout (30) from Basta in Balasore.

The police have recovered brown sugar worth an approximate market value of Rs 26 lakh from their possession.

As per reports, the accused women are highly-educated and were staying in a rented accommodation in Bhubaneswar. They worked in a private company and peddled drugs to addicts.

Informing about the arrests, Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda said, “We have raided Jadupur area in Khandagiri and arrested the two women from there. We have seized 256 grams of brown sugar from their possession. We have also seized three mobile phones and laptop from them.”

“The accused are highly-educated and were staying in a rented home. We have also identified their supplier, who is the kingpin in this racket. We are currently investigating the case and will arrest the kingpin too,” he added.
