Odisha is in the grip of hockey fever as the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup kicked off with a spectacular inaugural ceremony at the famous Barabati stadium.
Of late, a Nuapada-based food artist Jordan Julius has come up with a hockey logo using wheat dough and vegetables like tomato, radish, carrot and capsicum.
His art meanwhile has earned kudos for him.
“Odisha is hosting the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup for the second time in a row. It’s a matter of pride for us. People throughout the globe recognize Odisha today because of hockey. Being a proud citizen of Odisha, I created Hockey World Cup logo using wheat dough and some vegetables.”
Meanwhile, miniature artist Swasat Ranjan Sahu who hails from Puri made a model of Men’s Hockey World Cup trophy using 2,726 matchsticks. The height of this model is 44 cm and width is 18 cm. It took him 13 days to complete the model.
“I made this trophy to convey my best wishes to all the participating teams”, said Swasat.
Earlier, Berhampur-based miniature artist Satya Narayan Maharana had come up with the smallest hockey stick of the world.
It took 30 minutes for Satya to create two miniature hockey sticks made of wood. While the height of one stick is 5 mm and width 1 mm, the size of the other one is 1 cm in height and 1 mm in width.
Another artist L Eswara Rao created a miniature sculpture of a hockey stick and ball inside a 750 ml bottle to wish all the teams participating in the World Cup.
