Popular playback singer Sourin Bhatt, who now stays in Mumbai, has been accused of harassing a woman in Cuttack. The complainant, who initially went to Jagatpur police station, moved against Sourin Bhatt at Mahila Police station in the city for lodging a complaint.

The complainant reportedly works in a private bank. As per the allegations, the complainant had come in contact with the playback singer in 2015.

The complainant alleged that Sourin Bhatt has exploited her, both physically and mentally, on the pretext of giving her false promises.

A case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections- 376, 493, 341, 294, 417 and 506 has been registered in this connection. The statements of the complainant has also been recorded under section 161 of the CrPC.

Meanwhile, Sourin Bhatt could not be contacted over the allegations.

Speaking about the matter, Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra said, “A woman has alleged that the playback singer has kept relation with her on the false promises of a break in singing and also cheated her of some money. We have asked her to file a complaint at Mahila Police Station. Once the FIR is registered, appropriate action will be taken and the playback singer and others will be called for investigation.”

The allegations against Sourin Bhatt come in the backdrop of the recent storm created in Ollywood over casting couch allegations. While speaking to a media channel, actress Prakruti Mishra had said that in a Whatsapp group, some girls alleged that Sanjay Nayak was involved in the casting couch. Nayak would ask the newcomers to do compromises.

Film producer Sanjay Nayak aka Tutu Nayak later termed the allegations baseless while addressing a press conference. Nayak also said that he would file a defamation case against the two heroines and the news channel that broadcast their statements.
