Hanuman coin racket busted in Puri, 5 arrested

Pipili Police busted a racket involved in the illegal trade of antique Hanuman coins and arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in the case, on Monday.

According to sources, the police have seized Hanuman coins, one car and mobile phones from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, the Pipili police raided the house of one Gadadhara Sahoo of Nuagaon Dihi in Sakhigopal while the five accused were striking a deal.

When they were questioned by the police, the accused claimed that they have the licence to sell antique objects, sources informed.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered under Sections 213 Us-417/420/511/34 IPC/25(1)(2) of the Antique and Treasures Act 1972 at Satyabadi police station and the accused have been forwarded to the court.
