'Gopal Das may not be the killer': Congress' Bijay Patnaik sees bigger conspiracy in Naba Das murder

Soon after a senior Crime Branch official claimed that the accused and sacked Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gopal Das has revealed the reason behind killing health minister Naba Das, senior Congress leader and retired bureaucrat Bijay Patnaik made some startling statements.

While speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a function held in Bhubaneswar, Patnaik, who joined the Congress party recently said, “From the videos whatever I have seen, I believe that the ASI might not have killed minister Naba Das.”

It is now upon the Crime Branch, investigating the case, to unravel the mystery surrounding the exact motive behind the Naba Das murder.

According to Patnaik, the way the late health minister Naba Das was killed is very unfortunate. He said Das was an influential leader in western Odisha who helped party win several elections.

“The way Naba Das was killed in his own constituency in broad daylight is shameful. If Crime Branch can find out the truth, it will be good or the case should be handed over to CBI,” Patnaik said adding that there is a huge conspiracy in Naba Das' killing as it is hard to believe that an ASI can kill the minister.
