Girl student found hanging in private college hostel in Bhubaneswar, kin allege murder

A girl student was found hanging in her hostel room of a private college under Chandaka Police limits in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Archana Das who was a second-year student of the BSc Data Science department of the private college.

Sources said she hanged herself with a saree in her room after returning from the exams.

The college authorities allegedly shifted the body to a private hospital immediately after they found out about the death and the move has irked the family members of the deceased.

Denying the possibility of suicide, the elder sister of the deceased, Rebati Badhei said, “I am sure, she did not commit suicide. She was murdered and there is a conspiracy behind it.”

“She had returned from home yesterday for her exams. Why would she commit suicide immediately after the exams," Rebati said.

A complaint has been filed at the Chandaka police station by the family of the deceased.

No comments have been received from police and college authorities in this connection.
