Cannabis found concealed in truck loaded with watermelons
As many as two persons including a police Home Guard were arrested in Boudh on Thursday on charges of peddling cannabis.
The arrested Home Guard of Manamunda police station has been identified as Samaru Sethi. Sethi, claimed to be the mastermind behind the cannabis trafficking operation, was reportedly arrested following the interception of a truck that was purportedly delivering watermelons. However, the police discovered more than a quintal of cannabis concealed within the vehicle.
As per reports, investigations have identified the Home Guard as the mastermind behind this illegal operation.
This event follows a prior instance where as many as three personnel of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) stationed at the same location were caught and subsequently jailed for similar charges.
In response, the Superintendent of Police had transferred the officer in charge in an attempt to mitigate such incidents.
