Ayushman Bharat Yojana launch in Odisha: All you need to know about largest health assurance scheme

Odisha's healthcare journey will mark a significant milestone on Friday as Union Health Minister JP Nadda will officially launch the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) at a grand event at the historic Bali Yatra ground in Cuttack.

The inauguration ceremony will be graced by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other prominent leaders, signaling the state's commitment to providing accessible healthcare to its citizens.

Transformative Healthcare Benefits

Ayushman Bharat aims to provide free health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per family annually, targeting approximately 1.3 crore families in Odisha. This initiative is expected to benefit around 3.5 crore individuals, offering cashless treatment at over 29,000 empanelled public and private hospitals across India.

Key features of the scheme include:

Comprehensive Coverage: Covers expenses for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization, including pre-existing conditions from day one.

Cashless Treatment: Beneficiaries can avail of cashless medical services at any empanelled hospital nationwide.

Portability: Ensures that beneficiaries can access healthcare services across different states without any hindrance.

Inclusive Access: Extends benefits to all senior citizens aged 70 and above, regardless of their income status.

Integration with State Schemes

Alongside Ayushman Bharat, the state government will launch the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) and the Ayushman Vayo-Vandana Yojana. These schemes are designed to complement the central initiative, ensuring a broader reach and more comprehensive healthcare coverage for the state's residents.

A Step Towards Universal Health Coverage

The launch of Ayushman Bharat in Odisha represents a significant stride towards achieving universal health coverage in the state. By integrating central and state healthcare initiatives, the government aims to create a robust and inclusive healthcare system that caters to the needs of all citizens, particularly the underprivileged and vulnerable sections of society.
