The Chandragiri Police in Gajapati district seized 7 kg ganja from an ambulance near Jodaamba Square.

As per reports, the police stopped the ambulance carrying a patient and two of his relatives during a vehicle-check near Jodaamba Chhak. After searching the ambulance, the police found the contraband hidden in the vehicle.

The police confiscated the ganja and arrested three including two relatives of the patient and the driver.

After seizing the ambulance, the police sent the patient to Chandragiri Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment. However, the patient was later sent to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur after his health condition deteriorated.

Sources said the ambulance was en route to MKCG hospital in Berhampur from Dengaamba village with the patient and two of his relatives.

The police have registered a case in this connection and have launched a probe.

In a similar incident earlier in the day, huge quantity of ganja and a few crude bombs were seized from an SUV near Thelkuli on Sambalpur-Jharsuguda road.

On seeing the cops, the miscreants fled into the nearby jungle. During search, the team detected huge quantity of ganga stock inside the vehicle.

Later, some bombs were also recovered from the SUV. Soon a team of bomb disposal squad was called and they defused the explosives with utmost caution.
