Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Gangadhar Meher Lift Irrigation project, Bargarh Cancer Hospital, and infrastructure development project of Nrusinghanath temple in Bargarh district on Tuesday. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Odisha is now providing food to the entire country and that the farmers of Bargarh are making their contribution in turning Odisha self-sufficient in foodgrain production.

Though the Gangadhar Meher Lift Irrigation project was aimed at supplying water to 25,600 hectares, the project will now supply water to 10,000 hectares only.

It may be recalled that in the 2019 election, the Chief Minister contested from the Bijepur Assembly seat and at that time he had promised the residents that  Gangadhar Meher Lift Irrigation Project, cancer hospital, district status to Padampur and the setting up of JMFC court will be carried out.
