Actor-turned-politician and BJP’s Digapahandi MLA Sidhant Mohapatra, who played the eponymous character in the Odia film ‘Sarpanch Babu’, expressed his desire to be a Sarpanch once in his career.

On Tuesday, a special session of the Odisha Assembly was held for the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-elected MLAs.

All MLAs including Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik were seen in the Odisha Assembly.

But Digapahandi MLA Sidhant Mohapatra was the head turner. He reached the Odisha Assembly riding a bicycle.

While replying to questions from journalists, he divulged that he wants to be a Sarpanch, at least once in his career.

“I don’t know whether I am right or wrong. But I want to be a Sarpanch, at least once in my lifetime. Our Chief Minister started his career as a Sarpanch. From an MP, I am now an MLA. If an opportunity comes my way in the future, I would like to be a Sarpanch. Before drawing my last breath, I want to have the experience of a Sarpanch,” Mohapatra added.
