Fresh security breach at Puri Srimandir, inside pictures of temple go viral again
Puri Srimandir witnessed yet another security breach after photographs from inside the 12th century shrine going viral on social media.
A youth from Maharashtra, identified as Vaibhav Dure Patil, posted the images on his Instagram account, raising serious questions over how he managed to click them despite strict prohibitions.
The Srimandir administration and police are yet to respond to the incident.
Notably, this is not the first incident highlighting lapses in security at the temple. On August 28, a drone was spotted hovering over the Srimandir, despite the site being a strictly designated no-flying zone. This incident took place just hours after a youth from Kolkata was detained for allegedly using spectacles fitted with a hidden spy-cam.
Just days earlier, on August 4, a youth from Gujarat was caught attempting to enter the temple premises with spectacles fitted with a hidden spy camera.
The very next day, on August 5, another youth from West Bengal was apprehended on similar charges.
In a separate case on July 29, a youth from Puri was detained after being found with a hidden camera device, which he allegedly intended to use for recording visuals inside the shrine.
The repeated use of covert gadgets and the drone activity over the prohibited zone have triggered serious concerns among authorities and devotees alike. Security experts fear such breaches not only endanger the safety of visitors but also compromise the sanctity of one of the country’s most revered temples.
The recurring violations have once again brought to the fore urgent calls for stronger enforcement and technological measures to protect the centuries-old heritage monument.
