Freight train derails in Odisha’s Rourkela, traffic hit due to scattered wagons
A freight train derailment in Rourkela has led to major disruptions, severely affecting traffic in the Basanti Colony vicinity. Three carriages came off the tracks, crashing into a nearby parking area at Malgodam Basti.
The incident has resulted in the blockage of the key road linking Malgodam Railway Gate and Basanti Road, leading to significant inconvenience for commuters. Local authorities are currently engaged in clearing operations to remove the derailed carriages and restore normal traffic conditions.
The railway has launched an inquiry to determine the cause of the incident. No injuries have been reported so far. The derailment has significantly impacted daily commuters in the area. With the roadway unusable, locals are being advised to seek alternative routes or modes of transport.
