Nayagarh SP office
As many as four police personnel from Nayagarh have been suspended due to alleged misconduct following an altercation on New Year’s Eve.
The incident reportedly occurred on the night of December 31 on Trinath Bazaar Road, where a dispute over the printing of a card between two groups of police personnel turned violent.
As per sources, both groups lodged complaints at the Nayagarh Town Police Station following the altercation.
Subsequently, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nayagarh identified a breach of duty and suspended the officials involved in the confrontation.
The suspended police personnel have been identified as Dillip Behera, Muna Behera, Sanjay Mahapatra, and Durga Madhav Dora.

According to Nayagarh SP, they were all part of the reserve wing.
Earlier some days back, a Sub-Inspector (SI) of Odisha Police was suspended on charges of dereliction of duty following a brutal assault on four youths accused of theft in Sartha village of Balasore district leading to the death of one.
As per reports, Sartha outpost in-charge, Chandra Sekhar Mohanty, was suspended by the Superintendent of Police for failing to prevent the incident, which claimed a life.
