The Commissionerate Police, on Sunday, arrested as many as four persons for their alleged involvement in the attack on Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) Autonomous College students over a cricket match yesterday.

According to sources, Badagad police arrested the four non-students from Kedarpalli and Mahisakhala areas who unleashed terror by stabbing three students of the college following an argument over playing cricket on the college playground.

The police have also seized a knife, stumps and a bike from their possession and forwarded them to the court following their arrest. Of the four arrested accused, two have criminal antecedents with several cases pending against them, sources added.

"We have arrested four youths in connection with the case and they have been forwarded to court," said SN Muduli, ACP Zone-4.

Commenting on the matter, BJB College principal Gulam Moinuddin Khan said, "Earlier, the college playground was available for everyone to play. But, we are going to take a decision soon to avoid such unwanted incidents."

Notably, three students of the college suffered severe cut injuries in the attack and they were shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Recently, three students of Maharishi College in Bhubaneswar were allegedly attacked by some non-students on Monday.
