Former BDA junior town planner sentenced to 3 years in bribery case
A Bhubaneswar vigilance court on Friday convicted Kushal Chandra Chatterjee, a former Junior Town Planner with the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), in a bribery case and sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment.
Chatterjee, an outsourced employee, was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1) (d) and 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant in exchange for approving the building plan of a residential plot.
The case was investigated by Vigilance officials, who had laid a trap after receiving the complaint. Chatterjee was then allegedly caught red-handed while accepting the illegal gratification, leading to his prosecution.
