Fire mishap

Tragedy struck a family at Dhamara under Chandbali block in Bhadrak district when five rooms and household articles were gutted in a massive fire on Tuesday.

As per sources, the fire broke out in the house of a villager, identified as Ajay Sahu. In no time, the fire rapidly spread to nearby rooms, turning everything into ashes. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Some villagers came to the rescue of Ajay and made courageous attempts to control the flame. But their efforts were in vain.

Meanwhile, someone alerted the nearby fire station. On being informed, a fire-fighting team reached the spot and tamed the flame.
But it was too late by then. They couldn’t save anything. The family lost everything they had in the rooms.

However, no injuries were reported.

The villagers urged the local administration to provide assistance to the affected family.

Notably, earlier this month, a massive fire broke out following a blast at a firecracker godown at Chunukoli slum under Infocity Police limits in Bhubaneswar. The intensity of the blast was so high that the whole facility caught fire and the walls developed multiple cracks. The sound of the blast was heard miles away. Incidentally, the women’s hostel, located on the ground floor of the same premises, had its glasses shattered.
