All four bodies of the five persons who went missing on Wednesday after the boat they were travelling on capsized at Tansing river ghat of Patali river, on the other side of Jalaput reservoir in Koraput, were recovered on Friday. The rescue team had recovered a body on Thursday. 

The deceased have been identified as Leelamani Seesha (50), Nabina Arlab (14), Pushpanjali Arlab (6), Shanti Arlab (7) and Sashirekha Arlab (35). 

According to a source, Leelamani, Nabina, Pushpanjali, Shanti and Sashirekha of Tansing Village had gone to Bodela village located on the other side of Patali river to attend a family function.

On Wednesday afternoon, they were returning to their village in a fishing boat. It is suspected that their boat overturned due to some reasons and all went missing. 

Locals spotted Leelamani’s body floating in water on Thursday afternoon. As the news spread, the villagers could figure out what might have happened to their boat. Soon, they started searching for others. However, they had to leave it halfway due to darkness. 

On Friday morning, an ODRAF team, fire department staff from Nandapur fire department and local people resumed the operation. Later, one by one, all the four bodies were recovered. 

Following the incident, a pall of gloom descended on the village.
