A man succumbed to bullet injuries after being shot at by his neighbours over a past feud in Nayagarh district of Odisha on Monday. The firing took place at Krushnaprasad village under Lathipada panchayat coming under the jurisdiction of Itamati Police Station.

The deceased has been identified as Anirudha Nayak of Krushnaprasad village, who died on the spot after sustaining injuries caused by 10 rounds of firing.

As per the sources, neighbours opened fire at Nayak, and four others over past hostility due to political and land-related feuds. 

The neighbours fired around 13 rounds of bullets, out of which 10 rounds hit Nayak. He died on the spot while four others sustained injuries. The injured have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital.

Speaking to mediapersons, Nayagarh SP Alekh Chandra Pahi said, “The police team has gone to the spot along with the SDPO in charge and the local IIC has started investigating the matter. Meanwhile, we have received updates from the hospital regarding the death of one and a few others injured.”

Further investigation on the matter is currently going on.
