According to police sources, the finance company staff Bubu and Manoj had approached the customer to collect overdue payments for a two-wheeler loan on behalf of a finance company.

The borrower and key accused Ram Singh Munda, who had acquired the motorcycle on loan, is said to have not paid four instalments. A disagreement arose during their visit. As Bubu and Manoj attempted to depart, accused Ram Singh, allegedly in a fit of anger, along with a group of youths, pursued the duo in a four-wheeler.

The sports utility vehicle (SUV) reportedly struck their motorcycle, causing Bubu, who was seated at the rear, to fall and subsequently be fatally run over.

Local police have since detained Ram Singh, with an inquiry underway into the incident.

“We had gone yesterday to Ram Singh Munda’s house to collect the due instalment. He was a defaulter for the last four months. When we asked for money, he lied to us saying he had gone to our company office to repay but the staff there did not accept the installment amount. Then, we had an argument with him,” Manoj stated.

“After the default of four instalments, we used to take away the vehicle as per our company policy. Instead, we asked him to surrender the vehicle. He got irked with this. Later, he chased us and hit our motorcycle from behind on a secluded forest road,” Manoj expressed.
