Farmer registration for paddy procurement in Odisha extended till August 25

The ongoing farmer registration drive in Odisha for paddy procurement purposes has been extended till August 25.

As per reports, around 17 lakh farmers in the state have completed their registration so far, and the number is expected to cross 20 lakh, informed Food Suppliers and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Saturday.

For the Kharif season 2025–26, Odisha government has further simplified the farmer registration process.

Earlier, farmers were required to submit consent letters from co-heirs for land inheritance proof, which forced them to frequently visit RI offices. This often caused delays, leaving many farmers unable to register within the stipulated time, resulting in exclusion from procurement and difficulties in selling their paddy.

Now, the Supply Department has introduced a self-declaration form, allowing farmers to register directly without the need for additional documents. To safeguard the interests of farmers, the government has also extended the registration deadline from August 20 to August 25.

"The farmer registration process will continue till August 25. Today is August 23, and the registration drive will continue for two more days. Around 17 lakh farmers have completed their registration process so far. We are expecting that the number will increase further and cross 20 lakh," said Food Suppliers and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra.
