Elopement by lovebirds sparks clash between police & villagers in Odisha village
Tension prevailed high at Biripali village under Bangomunda police limits after a confrontation broke out between police personnel and villagers over elopement by two lovebirds.
According to sources, a youth from Ranapada in Biripali village and a girl from Bedapada had eloped. Following this, the girl’s family members lodged a written complaint at the Bangomunda police station. Acting on information that the couple was hiding in a house located in the middle of farmland, a police team rushed to the spot and rescued both of them.
However, when the police were escorting the duo to the station, the girl’s family members allegedly attempted to attack the youth. This triggered a face-off between the villagers and the police in the farmland.
In the aftermath of the incident, a case has been registered at Bangomunda police station against those accused of assaulting the police. While investigations are underway, an official response from the police is yet to be received.
The incident has created tension in the area, with locals expressing concern over the clash between law enforcement officials and villagers.
